Geneva IL Remodeling Contractor Cites Quality Service as Top Priority

It’s a fantastic feeling to be reminded regularly that you made the right decision, isn’t it? When we moved our office to Geneva last quarter, we knew we were in a special place. After having talked to a few like-minded business owners recently, I can tell you that this particular Geneva IL remodeling contractor is glad to be around colleagues who also view customer service as their top priority.

Why Choose Geneva?

I caught up with Joyce Courtney, managing broker of The HomeCourt Real Estate agency in Geneva has been a realtor for 22 years, and 4 years ago decided to open her own brokerage firm at 15 S. Sixth Street in Geneva. I asked her why she thinks Geneva and the surrounding area are a great place to live.

“The amenities and the historic nature of Geneva are a huge draw for people of all ages,” said Joyce. “The Metra train is a convenient way to get to downtown Chicago for work or fun. Geneva’s excellent schools, park districts and shopping are big reasons why people relocate here versus towns like Naperville or Wheaton. You get the same high quality here but on a smaller scale. There’s not as much traffic congestion as you find in other suburbs. There’s an ‘easy’ type of living that’s present in the Fox Valley area that you can’t find in many places.”

She’s right. It’s that ease and charm of Fox Valley that draws people to it, and now you can add upscale sophistication to it as well. Joyce noted that 20 years ago, people had to go to Oak Brook for chic boutiques and nationally known retailers, but now most of those shops are located in Geneva, St. Charles and Batavia.

The HomeCourt Advantage

Joyce’s business model is a bit different than other realtors’ customer relations. More than 95 percent of her clients are through referrals and repeat business. She and her team not only help clients buy and sell properties, but go beyond what’s typical to provide service in any way they can, and exceed expectations long after a closing.

“At The HomeCourt, we’re able to do more specific things with our clients because we’re an independent agency. You won’t hear from most other agents after they’ve closed on your home. We do the opposite. We keep in touch with our clients every single month. We send them helpful information about remodeling, cost vs. value reports, fire safety and other important subjects. Our clients know they can call us if they need anything at all,” said Joyce.

The HomeCourt Real Estate publishes a referral directory with a vetted list of quality service providers in the Fox Valley area, from plumbers and painters to hair stylists and dog sitters. Now in its fourth edition, the referral directory is only available to The HomeCourt Real Estate clients.

In addition, Joyce and her team host two major events each year to thank their clients: the Women’s Spring Luncheon with a fashion show, and a Thanksgiving pie giveaway in the fall that’s coordinated in conjunction with a food drive. Clients of the HomeCourt donated 1,500 lbs. of food in 2014, which benefited a local Church that provides shelter to the homeless.

Current Pulse of the Market in Geneva and Beyond

Joyce told me that showings are picking up quite a bit. Traditionally, February, March and April are the three busiest months of the year, and this year looks to be following that track as well. She anticipates seeing an uptick in new construction this year, too, due to the increase in building permits. For existing homes, Joyce said that clients want move-in quality above anything else.

“Whether I’m showing properties to single buyers or families, there’s one thing in common: buyers want a home that doesn’t involve work,” said Joyce. For this reason, she recommends remodeling your home now if you plan to sell in the near future. This has been the trend over the last few years and continues to be the case.
